Claude
Duvoisin
Consul
General of Switzerland
I’ve always
dreamt of Canada and my children, ever since their young
age, have adamantly encouraged me to stand as a
candidate for a position in this beautiful and distant
country. Besides, at every step of my career path, the
contacts with the Canadians, whether they were French or
English speakers, have always been kind and warm.
It is therefore eagerly that my wife and I turned up in
Montréal in March 2007. In the early times, the shock
rose by the level of distances – the province of Québec
is 40 times larger than Switzerland! – and a couple of
difficulties so as to understand the man from the block
and in order to have grasp of the features of his sense
of humour. Nevertheless within a short while, it feels
as if we have lived there all our lives thanks to the
good-naturedness and natural kindness, whether in Québec
or in the Atlantic provinces. Our stay in Canada will
surely turn out not to be long enough to discover the
uncountable richness left of such a huge country…
Meanwhile, at the occasion of a manifestation organised
by the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce Montréal, I
found out the Canada-Suisse organisation; the ideas, the
eagerness and dynamism of the staff in chief induced a
sense of impressiveness in me. Their website is mostly
delightful and makes you want to know even more … I,
therefore, give my greetings to the birth of this
organism which will without the shadow of a doubt
partake to the maintenance of excellent existing
relations currently between the two countries and will
favour the discovery of respective wealth throughout
trips organised on both sides of the Atlantic. |
