It is in the beginning of the 70’s, when I was watching
Roger Frison-Roche’s film « Peuple Chasseurs d’Arctique
», that I dreamed of this country Canada. I came across
Sep Renner, who talked to me about winter in les
Rocheuses Canadiennes, about its beautiful powdery snow
and about skiing helicopter.
On Sep’s beautiful description, the maple leaf was in
front of my eyes and I was going to touch it very
quickly. That same autumn 75, I left for the
Canadian West, Calgary, Banff, Field, Golden, to
discover the immensity and the magnificence of this
country.
I spent 10 wonderful years, guiding to Bugabous,
Caribous, Monashes, the Mecca of skiing helicopter.
I used to spend my weeks off with my Canadian Friends on
the ice cascades of the Rocheuses, a true paradise.
The encounter with the people of the west was for me a
huge delight; They were very welcoming, friendly and
their doors were open; they became my friends. This huge
wild nature and the wonderful fauna which lives there,
is a real delight for the eyes, the ears, the smell.
From this Canadian west, I keep only wonderful
souvenirs, great moments in this adventurous life of
mine. Then, it was the encounter with Quebec and my
friends. I went there several times to visit the
beautiful province and snowmobile, bob sledge with dogs
and horses. But above all, it is the Quebequians, these
welcoming people, proud of their soil, open to life.
It’s simply spending pastime with the Quebequians.
It is a beautiful souvenir indeed for me for having been
able to climb the Mont McKinly with the first
Quebequians on this summit and their chef Raymond Baril.
And yes Raymond was my Best Man at my wedding,
since it is in Quebec city that I found my blonde in all
discretion.
I am very proud and glad to be a Canadian citizen, like
my children too, they are Canadian. |
